Students Success Stories

How did the scholarship support your academic goals?

“I'd like to start off by saying how grateful I am to have received the Undocu5k scholarship last year. You all have brought me so much more than a moment of happiness and pride; you all have brought me a piece of hope for my future. With this scholarship, I was able to pay for a Winter class that’s part of the Single Subject Credential program, so that I could reach my goal of becoming a Spanish teacher. You all have lifted a barrier!”

How did it make you feel to know there were opportunities like the Undocu5k Scholarship?

It made me happy to know there were opportunities like Undocu5k Scholarship, which ensures all students have equal opportunity no matter the challenges they face.

Why is it important to support events like the Undocu5k?

Undocumented/Immigrant students don’t have the many wonderful opportunities that U.S. citizen students have, many of us don’t meet the stringent requirements to qualify for DACA neither. So we’re left with very minimum opportunities and support to finance and get through higher education. Without the support of our families, the Dream Success Center, and events like the Undocu5K we are able to break some of those barriers that thousands of us face navigating college.
