Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the event?

The Undocu5k registration fee is $30 until March 18th, the event date. We encourage you to register as soon as possible and if you can't make it, please consider donating to support undocumented students.

Where does this money go?

The money is being collected into an agency scholarship account that will be used to create scholarships that will benefit students at California State University, Long Beach. Thanks to individuals such as yourself, we are able to support undocumented students.

I want to donate, where can I do so?

Thank you for considering donating to our cause! If you go to our registration page, you will find a donation button where you can find more information. If you have any trouble, please don't hesitate to contact us at breakingfronteras5k@gmail.com

Will you be providing mementos?

Yes, we will be distributing T-shirts for all participants and volunteers the day of the event during registration
note that we can only guarantee T-shirts for those who sign up before the deadline.

Oh, and what do I need to participate?

I’m under the age of 18, can I still participate?

We require all participants and volunteers bring the following with them: waiver form, confirmation email, and ID (if available). You should receive everything you need via email after you complete registration, if you cannot find it, no worries we will post it online for your convenience. It is important to note that only those who have completed and turned in their paperwork will be able to participate in the 5k run.

Will water and snacks be provided?

Whew, we almost forgot. Folks under the age of 18 are unfortunately not allowed by the state to participate without either:

  1. Parent/Guardian permission and supervision (must fill out waiver form and turn in as well)

  2. School officials serving as a chaperone for students attending the event.

Where are we allowed to park and is there a fee?

Since your health and well-being is of utmost importance, we will be providing water, other beverages, fruits, granola bars, and other snacks to maintain high energy! Please be advised that they will be available until supplies last! Feel free to bring your own water for hydration and food for energy! Remember that staying hydrated is very important, and please do not come on an empty stomach. We want you to be in the best condition for the event!

Parking is $14 a day, and you are allowed to park in any of the lots since the event takes place on a weekend. Please ensure you have your license plate number when purchasing your parking pass. One last thing, LSU will be covering the parking fee for the first 5 people who sign up!

Sorry, me again. Where is it being held?

I’m kind of competitive and run really fast, what do I get if I win?

Don’t be sorry, we’re glad you’re curious and excited about our Undocu5k! It will be held at California State University of Long Beach. The address is 1250 N Bellflower Blvd, Long Beach, CA, and we will be meeting near the College of Business. A map will be provided with your confirmation email.

We’re glad to have you participating! We will be awarding the first 25 participants who complete the course a medal to commemorate their victory. There will be a finish line, so think of how cool it’d feel if you run through it! Imagine the applause, the adrenaline, the amazement! Wow, we can’t wait!

I’m not a runner but would still like to participate, is it mandatory to run?

I want to attend the event but not as a participant, can I volunteer?

We can definitely relate. To be clear, it is not mandatory to run this 5k. We respect and acknowledge the differences in ability and want everyone to feel welcome and supported at the event. This is an inclusive environment. We are welcoming of all individuals who would like to participate!

Yes, we would love to have you on our team! Please click here to be redirected to our volunteer sign up page. We will be contacting you with further information as the event comes closer! You must be 18 years or older to volunteer, if you are underage and would still like to be involved, you must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or school chaperone at all times. Please submit a request to volunteer and specify on the submission!

So….what do I wear?

Y’all answered most of my questions, but I still have a couple more you didn’t get to, who can I contact?

We recommend bringing comfortable clothing such as: workout clothes and tennis shoes. Since you will be engaging in physical activity please be prepared by wearing the appropriate attire.

Thank you for your curiosity. We encourage asking questions as it helps not only the participants, but us as organizers to be mindful of other possible areas we might have missed! You can contact our team at [breakingfronteras5k@gmail.com] or ask us questions on our social media pages. Also, on this website there will be a tab titled “Contact us” where more information and links will be provided.
